Cindy Unger, MA, LPC
Cindy holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in New Mexico, Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona, and Clinical Professional Counselor in Nevada. She specializes in evidence-based therapies designed to empower her clients, including mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral and emotion-focused therapies, and she utilizes these within a client-centered orientation for the treatment of anxiety, depression, life adjustment issues, grief and loss, and relationship struggles. She is trained in perinatal mental health (including the treatment of postpartum depression) and the Gottman Method of couple’s therapy. Cindy adheres to a holistic approach, considering each client's physical health, family and social interactions, professional/vocational life, and environmental influences in addition to psychological factors.
Cindy has worked in private practice since 2012 and in multiple substance abuse treatment settings, with severely mentally ill patients, college students, pregnant and postpartum mothers, and working professionals, and has training and experience with treating trauma as a result of sexual abuse and assault. She previously worked in complementary health as a practitioner of massage therapy, hypnotherapy, childbirth education, and as a doula.
Cindy is a a certified as a Perinatal Mental Health provider by Postpartum Support International.
